Our Story
We’re a mother-and-son team – Jenny and Hugh. Sydney born and bred, now proudly calling the Hunter Valley home.
Hugh started out as a carpenter and went on to manage projects across Sydney’s building industry. Jenny spent her career in education, retiring as a primary school principal before deciding it was time for a fresh challenge. After completing our own knock-down/rebuild in Thornleigh, we were ready for a new chapter.
In the middle of the 2021 COVID lockdown, Hugh’s long-held desire to work outdoors and build something sustainable turned into a clear direction: the country, fresh air, and the chance to grow and produce something we could truly be proud of. Around the same time, a growing interest in wine – sparked by family friends and fuelled by trips to wineries across NSW, Margaret River, and even France and Italy – became a real passion.
The Hunter Valley felt like the perfect fit: close to Sydney and the coast, and one of Australia’s great grape-growing regions. Not long after, we visited Thirsty Palette Wines in Lovedale—and fell in love with the property. We sold our Sydney homes and took the leap.
With the generous support of the previous owners, Jacquie and Andrew, we learned the ropes and grew the property from its original vineyards, olive trees, gardens and accommodation into a thriving little farmstay—adding chickens, veggie gardens, an orchard, two tiny houses and more guest spaces along the way.
In July 2025, we stepped into an even bigger vision: a five-year lease (with options to expand) across Mount Eyre Properties—bringing us close to 70 acres of vines across Broke, Holman Estate and Honeytree Estate.
Today, we’re based at Honeytree Estate, where we’ve tripled the size of the Cellar Door, revitalised the residences we live in, and launched our new label—welcoming both walk-ins and tour groups daily.
